San Fernando is a city in the northwest corner of Los Angeles County, California. According to the 2010 census, it had a population of 23,645. The city was formerly part of the San Fernando Valley, but was separated with the enactment of the Los Angeles-Ventura county line on August 22, 1873. The new city, San Fernando, later became the southernmost part of the newly created northern subregion, North of the San Fernando Valley.

Lopez Adobe

The Lopez Adobe, in San Fernando, California, is one of the Valley’s two oldest private residences. It was erected by pioneers of the San Fernando Valley a short distance from the San Fernando Mission in 1882 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1971.

Cesar E. Chavez Memorial Park

San Fernando César E. Chávez Memorial is at the corner of Wolfskill and Truman sts. The memorial honors labor leader and founder of the United Farm Workers of America, César Chávez, and includes a fountain, a sculpture of 10 farm workers, a mural depicting Chávez’s life and a 6-foot-tall bronze statue of Chávez.

Located in the heart of the city of San Fernando, the San Fernando Regional Pool is a fun and exciting aquatic center for the whole family to enjoy. Veterans Memorial Community Regional Park

Andres Pico Adobe Park

Rómulo Pico Adobe, also known as Ranchito Rómulo and Andrés Pico Adobe, was built in 1834 and is the oldest residence in the San Fernando Valley, making it the second oldest residence in Los Angeles. Built and owned by the Pico family of California, a prominent Californio family, the adobe is located in the Mission Hills section of the city and is a short distance from the San Fernando Mission. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.

Hansen Dam

Hansen Dam is a flood control dam in the northeastern San Fernando Valley, in the Lake View Terrace neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The dam was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District in 1940. Hansen Dam was named after horse ranchers Homer and Marie Hansen, who established a ranch in the 19th century. The Hansen Dam Recreation Center is located in the flood control basin and surrounding slopes behind the dam.

Nethercutt Museum

The Nethercutt Collection is a world-renowned private car collection and museum complex located in Sylmar, California. It was founded by J.B. Nethercutt in 1971 and houses the prestigious automobile collection of the Nethercutt-Richards family. Several publications have named it as one of the greatest collections in the world.

As J.B.’s former estate, the San Sylmar penthouse tower was one of the largest houses in the United States at 60,000 square feet.
